COLLI Gallery, Rome
1 March – 1 June 2019
The exhibition develops from research into speculative scenarios and their impact on perception and notions of the possible. Initiated by the artist in 2017 during a residency on the island of Biruchiy in the Azov Sea, the project first took the form of a publication, Basilisk or How to Run on Water (viaindustriae, 2018), exploring the idea of walking on water as a physical, symbolic, and motivational practice. The presentation expands this research into installation, transforming the gallery into a training environment for a series of techno-gymnastic prototypes. Works include moving platforms, sculptural objects, and visual materials that reinterpret religious iconography through contemporary sport and consumer aesthetics. Positioning itself between para-scientific speculation and cultural critique, the project reflects on the limits of the possible and the shifting relationship between belief, technology, and performance.
